A Textile City with Architectural Ambition
St. Gallen's famous bay windows on the old town buildings testify to centuries of design quality. The former textile metropolis has carried this standard into the modern era: the University of St. Gallen (HSG) with its striking campus buildings and the Natural History Museum showcase contemporary architecture at a high level.
A new urban quarter is emerging at the former freight station with residential, commercial and cultural spaces. New residential areas are growing in the west of the city.
